Ultrasound Guided Injections
Ultrasound-guided procedures offer precise visualization of the affected joint and its surroundings, reducing complications and enhancing injection effectiveness. Patients experience reduced pain and discomfort, as precise targeting and sensitive structure avoidance is possible.
Hydrocortisone, a strong anti-inflammatory medication, is the most commonly used medication for joint injections. Hydrocortisone injections are used to treat swollen or painful joints, such as after an injury or if you have arthritis. The hydrocortisone is injected directly into the painful joint. The joints most often injected are the shoulder, elbow, knee, hand, wrist or hip. Hydrocortisone injections are also used to treat painful tendons and bursitis (when a small bag of fluid which cushions a joint gets inflamed). The injections usually help relieve pain and swelling, and make movement easier.
Other injectants include hyaluronic acid and platelet rich plasma (PRP) also be used for certain types of joint pain. Platelet-rich plasma is derived from the patient’s own blood and contains platelets, growth factors, and cytokines, which play a vital role in stimulating tissue regeneration and reducing inflammation. There is robust evidence supporting the effectiveness of PRP in treating conditions such as knee osteoarthritis, lateral and medial epicondylitis, and aiding in postoperative wound healing. Notably, PRP presents a valuable treatment option for individuals with knee osteoarthritis who are unsuitable candidates for surgery or corticosteroid injections. To ensure consistent quality and efficacy, we employ an Arthrex centrifuge and standardized protocol for PRP preparation, guaranteeing a high platelet concentration in each injection.
The benefits can last for several months. Targeted injections can be used to treat the following conditions:
- Frozen Shoulder
- Sub acromial Impingement
- Acromioclavicular Joint Pain
- Tennis Elbow (PRP)
- Golfer’s Elbow (PRP)
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- De Quervain’s Syndrome
- Trochanteric Bursitis
- Osteoarthritis of the Knee (PRP)
- Morton’s Neuroma
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Osteoarthritis of the Ankle
